To celebrate its first anniversary, Twenty by Ten, is offering up to 40% off its current Collection. We speak with the “made for padel” brand co-founder Michael Kuzaj, and discuss the company’s journey so far and plans for 2021 including new projects and challenges that await.
PM : What led you to launch Twenty by Ten… And what is your assessment of the first year of activity – a year like no other given the pandemic?
MK : If only we had known what to expect ;)! … The main reason for launching twenty by Ten is driven by my associate (Alex Cortey) and I’s passion for padel! We wanted to contribute to the community, bring our contribution to the sport, be part of this environment that we love so very much. From a business standpoint, we also saw an opportunity in the booming padel market, which is still immature, allows the possibility for brands like ours to offer something new and different. We wanted to create a brand that reflects who we are and projects the values of padel: this unique blend of performance and relaxation specific to the sport. Of course, the current context hasn’t helped, but we are very satisfied with the feedback from the community and above all with having laid the foundations for our development.
PM: Tell us a bit about your products, how do you differentiate yourself from the competition?
MK : Our clothing and accessories range is specifically dedicated to padel and appeals to the padel community. We want players to relate to the padel vernacular of our clothing. Our products are fun, but above all they are high-end products, designed with breathable technical materials and/or organic cotton. The entire new collection is also printed in France with 100% biodegradable ink that does not require water.
Through our offer we also seek to celebrate padel at a more international level. We have nothing against the Spanish, but would like to introduce padel through our products and services to the rest of the World and especially to English-speaking countries.
In 2021, we will introduce new designs and accessories like water bottles and sport towels.
PM : How do you interact with clubs?
MK : Clubs are at the heart of our offer, because they are the main driving force behind the development of the practice of padel. Clubs distribute our range of products but can also modernize their own merchandising offering through co-branded collaborations with us. We understand that padel club managers have many other things to manage a day, and club merchandising is not often a priority for them. This is why we offer them a turnkey service through our co-branded collections. This allows them to improve their brand image, develop customer loyalty and generate additional revenue in a much more efficient way – given we handle most of the work for them.
We are very pleased with the collaborations initiated in 2020 with Esprit Padel, Padel Arena, Padel Riviera, Padel Tolosa and look forward to working with many more clubs in the future.
PM : Rumour has it that you are preparing a special Twenty by Ten padel league…
MK : Yes, but it’s top secret! No I’m just kidding. Our main goal is to positively contribute to the padel community through additional products and services that will resonate with padel fans. What better way than to do so with a new competition format? We can’t tell you much more about it at the moment, except that it will be a special championship which will take place in the biggest clubs in France. The launch was scheduled for April 2021 but we have postponed it to September in order to better manage the current pandemic situation and to ensure that the competition takes place in the best possible conditions.
PM : What can we wish you for 2021?
MK : First of all, that the clubs reopen as quickly as possible! Then to continue to progress, to learn from our mistakes and to share as much as possible with the padel community around the world thanks to our new range of products and services dedicated to padel.
